Minimalist kitchens in timeless design

Minimalism and clean lines in terms of furnishings and design have now become a clear trend. Handleless fronts, clear lines and a monochrome overall look instead of bright colors for doors and drawers are the order of the day. The reasons for this are obvious:

  • Minimalist kitchens blend harmoniously into the overall fabric of your living spaces. Especially in open living kitchens it is important that cooking, dining and living areas are coordinated. Therefore, the more minimalist the kitchen, the more freedom there is in the design of the other areas.
  • Another great advantage comes with cleaning. Minimalist, smooth fronts and countertops make cleaning the surfaces much easier! In combination with high-gloss fronts, keeping them clean is even easier, as rough structures get dirty more quickly.
  • The minimalist kitchen also offers the ideal basis in terms of decoration: here you can let off steam and play with colors and shapes without the kitchen structure or look distracting from your decorative accents. The overall picture thus always appears tidy and neat.

Modern kitchens thanks to minimalist concept

Above all Modern kitchens more and more importance is attached! To achieve the most modern look, minimalism should be expressed especially in shape and color.

The key here is to mix styles and shapes as little as possible. Opt for a consistent shape scheme such as angular shape principles.

Material and structure should also remain homogeneous. Determine whether your kitchen should be wood-stone or monochrome look.

Last but not least, the colors should also show as little variance as possible. Limit yourself to one or two muted shades so that there is not too much visual clutter. White kitchens are particularly popular here, as they visually enlarge the room and make it look brighter.

Achieve minimalism with handleless kitchens

Another design option for a minimalist kitchen is the handleless variant. By dispensing with door handles in the classic sense, which stand out both spatially and in terms of color, the kitchen front takes on a tidy character and is also easier to clean.

Now you think of the technically sophisticated designer kitchens with the motion detectors of the so-called "Serv-on technology"? Therefore, you assume that handleless kitchens are more expensive than conventional? Then you may not yet know about the diverse manual solutions.

For kitchens without handles there are quite different options for opening the door:

  • With recessed handles, doors are opened via individual indentations at a specific point on the door.
  • In purely technical terms, handle strips function in exactly the same way as recessed handles, but they extend over the entire upper edge of a door, making them even more visually inconspicuous.
  • A particularly popular option is the so-called "Push to Open" or "TIP-ON" mechanism. Special magnetic catches are installed in the carcase for this purpose: To open the door, all that is required here is to press against the door at the appropriate point. This causes the plunger of the catch to move out and the door comes slightly towards you. You now only have to pull lightly on the door and it opens fully. This variant is therefore the most invisible of the three mentioned.
